IMD221

Computer Graphics

This course introduces basic computer graphics with special emphasis on graphics for games. It is a required component of the joint CIT/IMD Video Game Design Track. It is being cross-listed in both programs, as both IMD 221 and CIT 221.

Upon completion of this course, the student can:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of types of graphics.
  • Demonstrate the difference between 2D and 3D graphics.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of color and color limitations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of raytracing.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of rasterization.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of types of shaders.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of mapping and types of mapping.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of lighting and shadows and the importance of each.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of global illumination.
